The Face of Another

I am now more than ever, inside.

How much of this is affecting them? They seem like themselves enough, I hope that I seem like ‘myself’ enough.

Through the use of masks, corporeal mime, and the mythological god Hermanubis, The Face of Another, explores the artist's role as a father and how this role compels one to conceal parts of oneself while revealing others.

Hermanubis: I’m here to protect you.
Daughter(s): I don’t know what you mean by that.
Well I guess it’s not so much protection, as much as just guide and to be near you.
Hold your hand.

Walking together everyday is my favorite part of everyday.
Yeah. Walks are good-- I wish we could get another dog. Maybe when we move, maybe when we know where we are going to live.
Yeah, we could rescue a dog. A lot of dogs need rescuing right now. A friend of mine was just telling me the other day that when he has downtime and just needs to decompress, he likes to watch animal rescue shows.
We watch those shows too, mom loves ‘em.
At the beginning the dog is so scared and won’t let anyone touch or be near them, but by the end they are bonded, so close.

My favorite part about this walk is that while I am simultaneously holding your hand, conscious and alert, I am also lost in my thoughts. We are drifting as we move, we are always arriving, because who cares where we walk to, right?

Our favorite part about this walk is that while you are holding our hands, we are holding yours.
There is a river on this walk, maybe we could find it?
I’m not much for swimming. I’d rather sing a song.
